Being.
The truth is different for everyone, and everyone has their own personal truth.
All therians also each have their own personal therianthropy.
I was Awakened to my theriotype in 2002. I learned that I was a gryphon. At the time, I didn't know very much about gryphons, so I had to do some research.
I still consider dragons to be more special than gryphons, but then dragons are a worldwide thing while gryphons are specific to a few regions and don't have a lot of lore or legend to their name. Everybody knows what dragons are. You have to explain gryphons.
I did not choose to be white, but I am white, feathers and fur from brow to tailtip. I wouldn't wish it to be otherwise; if I had to choose, I wouldn't really be able to decide what color I'd want to be. White is plain, white is natural, white is casual, I like white. I don't particularly enjoy being judged as some kind of religious fanatic or agent of God just because I happen to be the color of purity and the Divine, but I suppose there are other colors that get just as bad a rep because some RP manual classified them as this or that (ex. black = evil).
I do not hate humans. I do like to watch them on America's Funniest Home Videos when they fall down. Humans can be funny, and humans can be humane; just because a few of them don't have the general welfare of others in mind doesn't mean they're all like that. Just like how not all gryphons are fierce, brainless beasts who would sooner eat you than look at you. Some people like to drive wedges; I leave such people out of my circles.
I can feel the weight of my wings sometimes, and there are times when it hurts to sit on my tail. I enjoy eating meat above all else, preferably roast beef though I also enjoy grilled ribeye. I have a small hoard of crystals and coins. I like shiny things.
As for shifting, however, I'm limited to aural and astral shifting. I do not forsee myself being able to pull off anything close to a physical shift, at least not any time soon.
Legend says that gryphons have healing powers, most notably the ability to cure blindness. I help to build upon this legend through my art, which I use most often to teach, to explain things in a visual manner. Some things are easiest to understand when they are drawn; it also helps in visualization. In a way, it helps to cure the blindness of ignorance and miseducation. I believe that when you have a talent, you should share it for the good of all.
